“Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression. This right includes freedom to hold opinions without external pressure on the freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers,” Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Every year, on May 3, people around the world celebrate Media Freedom Day to raise awareness of the basic principles of media freedom and to pay tribute to those who have died or been punished for their honest and dedicated work.
